The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. The Finals for the 5th annual BOTVA's will begin in early 2015. But 1st we need candidates to compete in the finals. The results below are for the categories of Best Couple and Animated Program Total votes are in RED Finalists are in BOLD TEXT Best Couple OLIVER QUEEN & FELICITY SMOAK (Arrow) 833 KURT HUMMEL & BLAINE ANDERSON (Glee) 389 DR. LAUREN LEWIS & BO DENNIS (Lost Girl) 237 RICHARD CASTLE & KATE BECKETT (Castle) 161 EMMA SWAN & CAPTAIN HOOK (Once Upon A Time) 149 THEA QUEEN & ROY HARPER (Arrow) 140 KENZI & HALE SANTIAGO (Lost Girl) 133 BARRY ALLEN & FELICITY SMOAK (The Flash) 126 STEVE MCGARRETT & CATHERINE ROLLINS (Hawaii Five-O) 93 DAMON SALVATORE & ELENA GILBERT (The Vampire Diaries) 92 SHELDON COOPER & AMY FARRAH FOWLER (The Big Bang Theory) 87, EMILY FIELDS & PAIGE MCCULLERS (Pretty Little Liars) 78, LILY ALDRIN & MARSHALL ERIKSEN (How I Met Your Mother) 77, PRINCE CHARMING & SNOW WHITE (Once Upon A Time) 75, PENNY & LEONARD HOFSTADTER (The Big Bang Theory) 66, MR. THE SIMPSONS 57 FAMILY GUY 39 SOUTH PARK 30 THE LEGEND OF KORRA 28 FUTURAMA 23 BOBS BURGERS 22 ARCHER 21 AMERICAN DAD 14, MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC 14, ROBOT CHICKEN 4 Best Couple category seems to be in the middle of a changing of the guard. Only 4 of last years finalists made the finals this year. With only 1 of the finalists last year being retired, that means 5 couple from last year did not make this years finals who were there last year. Crazier yet, Once Upon A Time had 2 couples in last year, neither of them made it this year... including last years runner ups in the finals, but a completely different couple did. Last years winner Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis from Lost Girl are back, despite their penalties and have brought along another couple from their show Kenzie & Hale Santiago. The couple known as Doccubus main competition looks to be coming from newcomer couple Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from Arrow, Olicity garnered nearly double the votes of the 2 time champ. Richard Castle & Kate Beckett of Castle (aka - Caskett), the other winner of this award in 2012 is still in the fight too, along with last years break out couple Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson from Glee (aka - Klaine) who finished 3rd in this years semi-final voting. In the category of "odd" has to be the case of Felicity Smoak. The character (played by the same actress) is going into the finals in 2 different couples....on 2 different shows. Definitely a 1st. The Animated category returns after being removed for 2 years due to a lack of contenders and interest. The former champion is again looking poised to win again as The Simpsons won the semi-finals. After finishing 2nd in the opening round to a show that failed to make the finals, it seems pretty clear the winner is probably going to the longest running prime time animated program ever. Family Guy, South Park & The Legend Of Korra all look like they will at least give the champion SOME fight, but this seems more of a battle for 2nd than any potential winner coming out of the group. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE

The 2014 Best Of TV Awards opening round has closed on all 27 categories. The Semi-finals will open shortly after this blog post is posted. Voting will will be taking place by you the fans HERE. With all of the categories now wrapped for round 1, here is the results from several of the categories. Best Recurring Actor & Actress, Best Guest Star. Best Couple. Favorite TV Program & Character category results below. Names BOLDED are moving on to the semi-finals which start this week. Just a reminder, the next 2 rounds is NOT unlimited voting & there is no more write in/nominations. If your favorite did not get selected in round 1, sorry. Write In Vote campaigns in Best Couple produced a semi-finalist from Lost Girl. Also of note - a nominee on the Best Recurring Actor ballot has been relegated to Best Guest Star after being placed on the wrong ballot accidentally, but garnering enough votes to be eligible in either category. After a setback last year that say the 2011 Champions lose to the couple from Castle Richard & Kate, the 1st ever same sex couple nominated for our awards reclaimed their title. Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo of "Lost Girl" or as their fanbase call them Doccubus (Doctor & Succbus), finished 2nd last year by a mere 58 votes, but didnt have the same heartbreak this year, as their 1350 votes took the title back. Runner up was "Once Upon A Time" couple Mr.Gold & Belle (Rumbelle) were well back with 1084 votes. In 3rd was the 1st ever all male couple to make the finals, Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson (Klaine) from "Glee" nabbed 867 votes to finish 3rd. Rounding out the top 5, 2012 Champion Richard Castle & Kate Beckett (Caskett) from "Castle" were well back in 4th, Prince Charming & Snow White (Snowing) "Once Upon A Time" finished 5th. Dr. Sheldon Cooper & Amy Farrah Fowler (ShAmy) "The Big Bang Theory 6th, Lily Aldrin & Marshall Eriksen "How I Met Your Mother" 7th, 3X finalist Peter Bishop & Olivia Dunham "Fringe" finished 8th, Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert (Delena) "The Vampire Diaries" were 9th, Penny & Leonard "The Big Bang Theory" was 10th & Shawn Spencer & Juliet O'Hara (Shules) "Psych" finished in 11th. Day 1 had Klaine with 5 leads, Rumbelle 4, Duccubus 3, ShAmy & Polivia also held the lead. Day 2 was Klaine. Day 3 saw Doccubus with 3 leads, Klaine & Caskett also had the lead, Da4 on Doccubus had the lead minus a 3-4 hr spot where Rumbelle had the lead on day 5. Doccubus 1350 votes sets a new category record, breaking Doccubus 2011 total of 1170. This is also the 1st category record to have a winner that won in a previous year but not consecutively. RESULTS 1st Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo "Lost Girl" (Doccubus) 1350 2nd Mr. Gold & Belle "Once Upon A Time" (Rumbelle) 1084 3rd Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson "Glee" (Klaine) 867 4th Richard Castle & Kate Beckett "Castle" (Caskett) 659 5th Snow White & Prince Charming "Once Upon A Time" (Snowing) 571 6th Dr. Sheldon Cooper & Amy Farrah Fowler "The Big Bang Theory (ShAmy) 446 7th Lily Aldrin & Marshall eriksen "How I Met Your Mother" 393 8th Peter Bishop & Olivia Dunham "Fringe" (Polivia) 368 9th Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert "The Vampire Diaries" (Delena) 335 10th Penny & Leonard Hofstadter "The Big Bang Theory" 285 11th Shawn Spencer & Juliet O'Hara "Psych" (Shules) 208 The Best Director category in only its 2nd year & so far its been almost all Supernatural running away with it. Winning last years & runner up, they look poised to try & do that again this year with 4 finalists. Philip Sgriccia "Sacrifice" (Supernatural) led with 137 votes, just 9 ahead of last years runner up, back for another crack at it with 2 finalists Guy Norman Bee "Devil May Care" at 128 votes & "Taxi Driver" (Supernatural) in 4th with 113. Sandwiched in between the pair of finalists from Bee is Jeannot Szwarc "LARP And The Real Girl" (Supernatural) at 123 votes. Rounding out the top 5 is a non-SPN challenger John Fawcett "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" (Orphan Black) Other finalists are - David Barrett "Sacrifice" (Arrow), Joel Wyman "An Enemy Of Fate" (Fringe), Brad Falchuk "The Quarterback" (Glee) & Shawn Piller "Fallout" (Haven). Missing the finals - Ron Underwood "Things We Said Today" (Grey's Anatomy) was 24 votes back & Pamela Fryman "Something New" (How I Met Your Mother) was 25 votes back. The Best Couple category is again looking like it will be "Lost Girl" VS the rest. The 2011 winners & 2012 runner-ups are again coming out swinging in the early rounds. The 1st ever same sex couple to get nominated in the awards, Bo & Dr. Lauren Lewis "Lost Girl" grabbed 871 votes in round 2, more than the next 3 combined. Well back in 2nd was Rumplestiltskins Storybrooke alias Mr. Gold & Belle from "Once Upon A Time" at 334, the 2012 champs crime fighting duo Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" were 3rd with 260. In 4th was easily the most awkward couple on TV Dr. Sheldon Cooper & Amy Farrah Fowler of "The Big Bang Theory". Rounding out the top 5 are the real lie soon to be parents TV characters Prince Charming & Snow White from "Once Upon A Time". The other finalists will be Peter Bishop & Olivia Dunham "Fringe", Penny & Dr. Leonard Hofstadter "The Big Bang Theory", Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert "The Vampire Diaries", Shawn Spencer & Juliet O'Hara "Psych", Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson "Glee" & Lily Aldrin & Marshall Eriksen "How I Met Your Mother" Missing the finals was another HIMYM couple Robin & Barney by 7 votes & Oliver & Laurel from "Arrow" by 16 The finals will start January 5 , 2014 HERE For the 3rd year running, the Best Non-Human Character Or Prop category looks like it will belong to The 1967 Impala from "Supernatural". With 1039 votes, The Impala had more than the next 3 combined. 2nd was another "Supernatural" item, the Men Of Letters Bunker. 3rd was "Once Upon A Time" item, Rumplestiltskins Dagger. Rounding out the semi-finalists The Blueberry from "Psych", The Pale Horse "Hell On Wheels", Bear "Person Of Interest", The Machine "Person Of Interest", Annies Boobs "Community" & The Jolly Roger "Once Upon A Time". Last 2 years runner up Gene from "Fringe" managed no votes, perhaps the 2 seconds of screen time this year made the fans forget? For the 2nd year in a row, the Best Director category is being lead by a "Supernatural" director. This time however, its not the 1 of the shows lead actors. Philip Sgriccia (Sacrifice) from "Supernatural" was the leader in round 1 with 733 votes. Shawn Piller (Fallour) from "Haven" snagged 2nd spot ahead of 3 more SPN choices. Jeannot Szwarc (LARP And The Real Girl) grabbed the final spot in the top 3. Guy Norman Bee, with 2 in the top 5, "Tai Driver" 4th & "Devil May Care" in 5th. The rest of the semi-finalists are David Barrett (Sacrifice) "Arrow", Brad Falchuk (The Quarterback) "Glee", Nicole Cassale (Six Minutes) "The Killing", David Crabtree (Right Turn Or Left For Dead) "Psych", Mel Damski (No Country For Two Old Men) "Psych", Joel Wyman (An Enemy Of Fate) "Fringe", Pamela Fryman (Something New) "How I Met Your Mother", Adam Davidson (The Game) "Hell On Wheels", Lena Dunham (On All Fours) "Girls", Paris Barclay (Diva) "Glee", Ron Underwood (Things We Said Today" "Greys Anatomy". Neil LaBute "(get Behind The Mule, Searchers) "Hell On Wheels", David Fincher (Episode 1) "House Of Cards", & John Fawcett (Endless Forms Most Beautiful) "Orphan Black". The Best Couple category looks like it will be a two horse race this year. Dr Lauren Lewis & Bo "Lost Girl" lead 1st round voting with 15,349 votes. Second was Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert "The Vampire Diaries" with 13,387 votes. After Lauren & Bo, the 2011 winners, lost last year to Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" (4th in the 1st round this year) it looks like they are serious about trying to regain their title. The other member of the top 4 was 3rd place from "Once Upon A Time" Mr Gold & Belle. The other semi-finalists include Prince Charming & Snow White "Once Upon A Time", Thea Queen & Roy Harper "Arrow", Emily Fields & Paige McCullers "Pretty Little Liars", Shawn Spencer & Juliet O'Hara "Psych", Peter Bishop & Olivia Dunham "Fringe", Amy Farrah Fowler & Dr. Sheldon Cooper "The Big Bang Theory", Steve McGarrett & Catherine Rollins "Hawaii Five-O", Lily Aldrin & Marshall Eriksen "How I Met Your Mother", Dexter Morgan & Hannah McKay "Dexter", Robin Scherbatsky & Barney Stinson "How I Met Your Mother", Penny & Dr. Leonard Hofstadter "The Big Bang theory", Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson "Glee" Britta Perry & Troy Barnes "Community", Oliver Queen & Laurel Lance "Arrow", Jim & Pam Halpert "The Office" & Nicholas Brody & Carrie Matheson "Homeland" All of last years finalists made this years semi-finals. In the Recurring Actor category. It again looks like another year of Supernatural domination. After winning last year with Jim Beaver & the year before with Mark Sheppard in this category under its old title of "Supporting Actor", Supernatural again goes into round 2 with the vote leader. Osric Chau had 1833 votes, only 43 ahead of runner up Christopher Heyerdahl "Hell On Wheels" however. Well back in 3rd "Orphan Black" actor David Richmond-Peck After a strong write in campaign to get him on the ballot, "Once Upon A Time In Wonderland" actor Peter Gadiot snagged 4th, Michael Cerveris from "Fringe" rounded out the top 5. Other semi-finalists include john Noble, Joshua Jackson & Michael Kopsa "Fringe", Raphael Sbarge "Once Upon A Time", Nikolaj Coster-Waldau & Richard Madden "Game Of Thrones", Wayne Brady "How I Met Your Mother", Michael Socha "Once Upon A Time In Wonderland", Mark Pellegrino & Robbie Amell "The Tomorrow People" , John Pyper-Ferguson "Burn Notice", Adam Copeland "Haven", James Marsters "Warehouse 13", Sage Brocklebank "Psych", Enrico Colantoni "Person Of Interest", Ian Tracey & Hugh Dillon "Continuum", Ben Cotton, Ryan Robbins "The Killing" & Matt Frewer "Orphan Black" On the Actress side the winners of both titles "Supernatural" with Rachel Miner & Julia Maxwell, do have some top 6 contenders, but if the 1st round of voting is any indication, it looks like we might have some other show on top this year. Gillian Anderson "Hannibal" had 2431 votes in round 1, more than the rest of the top 10 list. The 2010 Best Actress winner Anna Torv "Fringe" was 2nd in the recurring category since her show didnt air enough episodes in 2013 for her to be in the main category. Crystal Lowe "Primeval New World" snagged 3rd. There was a trio of "Supernatural" girls from 4th thru 6th. Felicia Day (a Guest Star finalist last year), Alaina Huffman & Amanda Tapping (2011 Sci-Fi actress finalist on Sanctuary) took those spots. Rounding out the semi-finalists Emma Lahana "Haven", Caity Lotz, Summer Glau & Bex Taylor-Klaus "Arrow", Lisa Edelstein "Castle", Jamie Chung & Sarah Bolger "Once Upon A Time", Sara Canning "Primeval New World", Natalie Dormer "Elementary", Yvonne Strahovski "Dexter", Jessy Schram "Falling Skies", Cristin Milioti "How I Met Your Mother", Magda Apanowicz "Continuum", Jane Fonda "The Newsroom" Round 2 voting will begin December 1, 2013 on some categories. |
